We found the Midwest-famous Orange Chair! Apparently it is well-known in our photoblog circles as a seat for photoshoots. Someone apparently moved it, and I was disappointed at how torn up it was. I don't think anyone will be doing any posing on it anymore.

That chair IS famous--I think every Chicagoland photographer has at least one photo of it. Sad to see it in such a sorry state, but at least there are several hundred photos of it's glory days posted on flickr and various other photoblogs.

All you need is a hi-fi, some Wes Montgomery records, a blond model in a miniskirt, and a team of cleaning people, and you could have one swingin' photoshoot with that chair!

Great!! We love photos of decay and ramshackle, and this is done so beautifully. The light is perfect!

That chair has been through a lot and from my visits there it looks like it has covered a lot of ground inside the church. Fun find, a flickr group dedicated to it: http://www.flickr.com/groups/the_orange_chair/
