It was a very windy day on the beach today, as the crunchy sand collected in the creases of my D2X "beach camera" will tell you. (There's nothing quite like the sound of sand in the 'ol F-mount as you twist on a lens...) We took advantage of the wind and tried flying my son's kite today. He did a pretty good job of it, although we had a lot of trouble keeping it high enough above the dunes. Perhaps things will go better if we spend more than $5 on the kite?

Nice movement and composition, Mike. :-)
The ground seems to be a bit underexposed - is it due to exposure metering (sky, kite, son=mixed light) or was it a cloud preventing sun from shinig? Or maybe just my screen settings? :-)

Hey Niklas- There's a little shading I put in that corner using levels in order to vary the monotony of that sand; it is a bit unexposed. Also I brought out the brightness and color of the kite with a little bit of (imperfect) masking, so that may not look so great against the sand. Thanks for the comment!
