This is my son hanging out in his usual seat in our minivan. He built this little space capsule out of Legos and was playing with it, looking at it at various angles, zooming it up and down, making subtle noises. No one can play so creatively with toys and other objects with a sense of wonderment and engagement like he can. He often needs his "alone time" where he'll do this, and almost always it's with some small object he's constructed out of a combination of things. There's so much that he's thinking about as he does this, and I always wonder what it is. Perhaps it's the roller coasters that he loves so much, or race cars, or spaceships. I love watching him do this; it reminds me of the way I used to play with my toys when I was a kid. I was thinking about doing a series of photos of some of the stuff he makes...

It is always a pleasure to watch kids playing and their mind works in the most amazing ways.
