From one of our weekend trips to Dog Beach here in Chicago. I think Nellie is the only black lab that can't swim well, nor fetch. She has a lot to learn. She loves to chase after the ball, grab it, then run away. I actually had to swim after her to bring her back to the shore because she started swimming towards Michigan! I thought she was supposed to do all that stuff by instinct?

So I'm usually not a big fan of selective saturation and all that. But for this shot the ball was practically black in her mouth after a greyscaled blue-filter adjustment. So I masked the original color back in. I didn't do a great job with the masking so I'll try and fix it and repost when I have more time. I think it kind of takes away from the photo to have the ball so bright, but let me know what you think...

I'm biased, but I love this shot....

You have dog beaches? New one on me. I love this shot. The water looks so clear and Nellie looks like she is having great fun.

May be she doesn't want to play fetch so she was trying to get away from you :)

Having your son in the image and the dog swimming away from him with the ball really sets up your story.
oh yeah.... I really like the post processing. Spot on.

Nice shot. Although I normally don't like selective saturation, I do like it here. It doesn't stick out too much or anything. Good thing you caught Nellie, the seafaring dog.
