Here is a third shot from the Ellis Island 2008 Series.

This is another one of my favorites, and it was perhaps the most challenging from a technical standpoint. First, I didn't have much time at all to take these shots. I only had about two minutes with each kid since they were trying to send them through the entire Ellis Island simulation in groups, and there were a lot of groups. When I saw this boy's hat and the brightness of his skin, I knew it would be hard to balance the light enough so that the hat would not disappear into the background. So I moved some reflectors around, adjusted some of the lighting power, and fired off a few shots. Afterwards, I would have bet ten bucks that he owns a yellow lab, yellow cat, or some kind of pet that has a lot of yellow or white fur, because that suede hat was full of it, and my lighting scheme highlighted it all quite well. Thank goodness for photoshop! Had I seen it with more time, I probably could have taken care of it with a lint brush instead. I'll add that to my list for next year!

Hope you are not getting bored with this series from the book! Thank you for the comments, and just one more left that I'll be posting.
