As I mentioned in a previous post, I was in NYC a couple of weeks ago. I was delayed at O'Hare in Chicago for nearly seven hours, and by the time I got in to Manhattan at 8pm I was starving! I have read about the Momofuku noodle bar in several magazines lately, and I ran out at 10pm to meet my friend Bruce there over on 1st Avenue. What an experience.... the cooks work in a blaze of activity putting together huge bowls of ramen, all made with a broth that has been simmering for days. It was one of the best meals I've ever had.

Leave it to Mike to find another diamond in the rough....when Mike called me to meet him for a bowl of noodles in the Lower East Side, I couldn't resist. Low and behold, Momofuku is well worth the trip. In Los Angeles where I am from, there are many options for excellent Japanese restaurants but Momofuku takes a back seat to none of them when it comes to an excellent bowl of noodles. Impressive indeed! Be ready to stand in line for a seat, however. Chalk another one up for Mike!

I will say, that does look tasty.
