I really struggled to find something worth posting from Manila! The place is very smoggy, and the traffic is just horrible. We spent most of the past few days in the car sitting in traffic driving from place to place. The city looks fascinating, in that it is a very interesting mix of old and new architecture, hastily constructed tenements, and roadways. But it is just impossible to get anywhere! So, this is a view out the passenger side window on the way home from a visit to a resort town yesterday. On the right is one of the ubiquitous :Jeepneys," a custom-built passenger truck that operates like a private bus. There are millions of them here, each of them painted and decorated quite uniquely.

Mike,
I love the vibrant picture of a gritty city road. The bus is really interesting.

Your whole series has been facinating. Your comentary has captured what it's like to make a trip back to the country of your ancesters. You've inspired me. Now I know what my pictures could be like on my trip to Norway this summer. Can I borrow your camera? :)
