Thanks for your patience as I have recharged my batteries! They have needed it quite badly.

I have shot this place before, but last night I paid another visit to the A. Finkl steel foundry right here in the city. I paid for a tour through a local adult education program and managed to smuggle in my camera and tripod this time. The tour guide (and the workers) were very cool about it as I became more bold about setting up my camera and taking time-released shots. This is the melting room, which contains two huge arc furnaces and a vacuum agitation purifying melter. I combined several shots here into a partial-high-range composite. The vastness of this space was hard to capture! More to come....

You've got some interesting solarization thing happening on the roof along with some ghosting?

Cetan- I should have mentioned this... there was a huge overhead crane moving back and forth on the tracks up near the ceiling. Since the time lapse here was nearly two minutes, there was quite a bit of movement. It had its own set of lights, and I think that caused the dark solarization. Thanks for visiting! - Mike

Ah, I could see that. I'd be curious to see if it's a particular type of light that would cause this. I know that with very monochromatic light, sensors can do strange things. (You can sometimes see that with concert or theater photography)

This looks like a place where acts of extreme material violence take place . . your clinical presentation here is very appropriate.

What a room it looks like the scene of a movie.... like after an earthquake. Great image
