For reasons I will explain later, we traveled up to Madison, Wisconsin this weekend. On our way back, we hit the Taste of Madison food festival circling the capital building in downtown. The event was insanely hot and crowded. Full of regular residents and newly arrived college students partying and drinking beers at high noon. We took shelter inside the capital dome itself, which was a magnificent building. There was no problem bringing big cameras and even food in there, and that was a welcome relief. This is a shot of the dome. I was surprised at how similar the architecture and painting was to the dome on our church.

I had the chance to wander the halls of Wisconsin's capitol building a few years back (on a Saturday). I was amazed by how free we were to just wander almost anywhere. Such a beautiful building, as this shot captures so well.

This is one of those images where we just cannot believe how good it is from the moment it comes out of the camera . . this really is splendid.
