This is a shot from the inside of the hand-operated elevator in the old Fine Arts Building on South Michigan Avenue near Orchestra Hall. There are just a handful of places left in this city (and in this country) that have these elevators, driven by operators up and down the elevator shafts. They always scare me because the shaft wall passes so quickly; if you were to reach out there and touch the wall you could easily lose an arm or something. Oven the operator doesn't close the inside door, as you can see here.

Funny how I was just thinking that I seldom see anything new or interesting anymore when I cruise the blogs and figured it was just me getting hard to satisfy...then I opened your right brain and found something innovative and this shot.

We have such lifts in my residence building but those won't work unless both the doors, the inside as well as the outside, are not shut. Great shot

"Going up" is going down as one of my favorites. Very clever indeed.
I love it

Your blog is coming along very nicely. I am watching your blog every now and then, silently.
