Nikon D2X

Aperture/Shutter Speed: F/10 - 2 sec
Focal Length: 17 mm

Flash: None

This is my favorite shot from the entire Washburne Trade School series. This room was just unbelievably huge. There were paint cans and oil barrels everywhere, and at least two truck chassis. This must have been the room where automotive classes were held. Because of all the paint cans and fumes, John and I fondly called this room "The Benzene Room". We were a bit light-headed after spending a good half hour in there. The paint cans and graffiti were particularly intriguing. This is an HDR composite shot of five separate images, by the way. Be sure to check out John from Photoentropy's site today for other views in his series of the same building.

* News from MikesRightBrain and Gratuitous Self-Promotion: I was named a winner in this year's Photo Issue of TimeOut Chicago. Check it out here.

** You may have noticed that the archived shots are mis-aligned with the old template. I am still in the long and tedious process of up-rezzing all 320 of the previous MRB shots. Once those are all done I'll be able to upgrade the entire site. Right now it's only the homepage that uses the new template. Thanks for your patience as I continue the upgrades to the site.

Fantastic colors here Mike. The HDR really brings them out.

this is a great room, dang, i could spend a week in there (if not for the fumes). I love the coloured reflections in the puddles.

Wow, 10 years, and it's an explosion waiting to happen. Looking at these shots, you can't help but want to have a "before" shot. I heard from John that you didn't move anything for that "better" shot. I admire that. Sometimes, not "setting up" the shot makes the photos even nicer.

Heh Mike! Congratulation! Feels good I am sure! :-) Oh and yes, this shot is spectacular indeed! This room needs a bit of a clean up though!

I hope I never have to clean a mess like that. Incredible!

Great shot...this part of WTS was demolished in early 2007.
In my day job I go to different law offices to do library work. Today I went into one attorneys office and he had a large print of this shot hanging on his wall. Amazingly, I remembered exactly where I saw this shot before. So yea, hats off to you.
