On Saturday a group of us entered a local "dragon boat" race in Chinatown. The race took place on the south branch of the Chicago River that runs along Ping Tom Park, one of the city's most beautiful and hidden-away parks. Dragon boat racing is an art, somewhat similar to crewing, wherein a drummer (like a coxwain) screams and beats orders to a crew of twenty rowers. Our team was sort of rag-tag, in that we put it together at the last minute and many had never rowed before. We ended up finishing much better than we thought we would! Here are a couple of boats racing in the initial time trial.

** You may have noticed that the archived shots are mis-aligned with the old template. I am still in the long and tedious process of up-rezzing all 320 of the previous MRB shots. Once those are all done I'll be able to upgrade the entire site. Right now it's only the homepage that uses the new template. Thanks for your patience as I continue the upgrades to the site.

A drummer on a boat!! A racing boat, no less! How cool is that? Love the intensity on the faces we can see. Nice image, and congrats on your good standing in the end!

You do a little bit of everything don't you, that is so cool! I love this picture, especially that you got eye contact from that one guy through the little triangle of arms and oars. Love the intensity on all of their faces!
