Here's the last in the "open water swim" series. This is a shot of some more experienced swimmers taking to the water in a group, into the fog. The wetsuits are more of a crutch to help you swim better and faster. Only secondarily are they really used to keep you warm. Especially now, when the water isn't really that cold at all. You'll see the hardcore swimmers swimming bareback.

** You may have noticed that the archived shots are mis-aligned with the old template. I am still in the long and tedious process of up-rezzing all 320 of the previous MRB shots. Once those are all done I'll be able to upgrade the entire site. Right now it's only the homepage that uses the new template. Thanks for your patience as I continue the upgrades to the site.

Looks very cold brrrr. Nice Shot!

They look like some mighty strong swimmers, though.

I sink like a hammer.

Yeah, you don't need the suit in the summer, but it is a good idea to get used to the suit prior to hitting the water for a tri. Great series Mike.

Really amazing to me. I can't imagine doing this!

07.23.06, 06:37 PM, Natalie:

Are you sure that water's not cold?

07.23.06, 11:38 PM, Tai:

Great shot! This is definitely my favorite of the series. There is something purposeful and mysterious about the scene, and there lurks some sort of dark undertones that I can't quite place.

The change to higher resolution is certainly welcome! Nice work.

I agree with Tai. Out of context, this would be sort of like heading for the sharks or something. Great shot.
