Sorry for the late post today... Well, the crab from yesterday's shot is probably here in this pile somewhere. These are blue crabs right out of the steamer, spilled out onto a table covered in newspaper. We steam them in an old beer keg steaming device with a rocket-engine-like burner that my wife's grandfather made decades ago, with the crabs covered in lots of Old Bay seasoning and beer. The way we eat them here is with hammers, knives and bare hands, with a little vinegar, cold beer and buttered rye bread. They make a mess but there's nothing like 'em. Especially when you catch them yourselves. Oh, and yes, there's a little gratuitous self-promotion in the background...

Yummmm. Fresh caught crabs are awesome! No fair that you live in Chicago and I live less than two hours from Topsail Island but you got to the beach first :-( I'm off to a slow start this year.
