This is a retake of one of the first shots I put up on MikesRightBrain last year. It has always been one of my favorites, but it always bugged me how the sunlight was so intense at the top of the GE building. I tried toning it down in PS by doing a perspective selection, but it never looked quite right. So what I ended up doing was just retaking the shot when I was in NYC a few months ago. The weather was perfect for this one, considering I got up very early in the morning before the direct sunlight burst through. Also, getting up early allowed me to lie down on 5th Avenue to take this shot--something I wouldn't be as inclined to do in the middle of rush hour.

What a superb perspective. The sky is drawing a flash between the buildings and the church. very fine.

I was wondering if you had to lie down for this. It is spot on, a perfect composition! Good thing you shot it again, the effort paid off beautifully!

The small tree lost in the sky of buildings, made a very poetic pix ;)
