My oldest had her piano recital this weekend. It was an amazing event. The piano teacher, who had some of the most exceptional students I have ever heard, had an orchestra accompanying each student, from the youngest (playing an accompanied version of "Greensleeves") to the oldest, a 16 year-old playing the third movement of the Rachmaninoff Second Piano Concerto. The latter rendered the piece (which I have heard dozens of times) with the technical proficiency and mature emotion of a 40-year old. I was flabbergasted. Here's one of the youngest, and you will note that she is also playing with astounding maturity. The best part was that these kids all seemed to have a great time. I didn't sense too many nerves there at all.

One thing worth noting: The D2X has the loudest freakin' shutter on the planet!

Great shot, she does look composed, I would have for sure been a ball of nerves!
Cool they have a freaking orchestra to accompany them, wow!

And too funny about the loud shutter, I hear ya there!

Deep concentration, focus, beautiful.
1000 miles away from my world.

This is wonderful. She looks so poised, even without her feet touching the ground!
