Here we are back again at Orchestra Hall. Took a big risk here and brought my camera out for this shot. For once I didn't get busted. The ceiling of the hall is quite exquisite, both architecturally and technologically. About five years ago, the hall underwent a redesign and upgrade to improve acoustics. You can see a large, movable sound canopy up on the ceiling to close up the stage space for smaller symphonic groups such as Mozart-era orchestras.

Great shot, the perspective is brilliant. How did you smuggle a D2X in by the way ; ) you can't really shove that up your coat!

Hey Mike,
They've got a very similar canopy at Davies Hall here in SF. I bet the same designer was used, although I don't think I've ever seen them move (at least I've never noticed them in different positions). What is weird is that when pre-recorded sounds are used in a performance (like the Bernstein overture they played two years ago), the speakers also come down from a hole in the ceiling, and a few of those plastic pieces have to fold up out of the way. No wonder these renovations cost so much.
