Here's another view of a furnace at the A. Finkl & Sons steel foundry here in Chicago, taken about ten minutes after yesterday's shot. It really surprised me to see that the top of the huge furnace opens up with a huge set of doors about 20 feet wide. Right out of an industrial movie, this giant bucket on a hook came by and poured molten steel right into the top of the furnace. Smoke, fire and heat is everywhere. Although it would be kind of neat, I have no idea how people actually work in this place. I didn't ask, but the workers must have no eyebrows or facial hair. I mean I singe my eyebrows every time I grill a chicken breast for goodness sake...

Many thanks for the comments from yesterday.

Man, you can feel the heat and the intensity. So oppresive, so scary!

Impressive balance of light.
making that level of light show up in your image around such bright object is not easy.
As to the subject and comp. They are both excellent.

... this is so cool! I love the colours (yesterday) and today. While obviously an industrial type shot, there is something romantic about it. Another great shot Mike. :)

I like the warm tones. Was it difficult to gain entrance to the factory? It looks pretty dangerous.
